Flappy Bird is to return this August, CNBC has confirmed.

The popular free downloadable mobile-exclusive game will be coming back this August as a multiplayer title after being taken down back in February.

Yesterday, CNBC confirmed that the game’s creator, Doug Nguyen, is to bring the game back and CNBC reporter Kelly Evans later announced the title is scheduled for re-release in August.

Nguyen revealed back in February that he was going to take the game down, as he wasn’t able to “take this anymore” after the title had gain worldwide attention from fans and the media.

He later further explained the decision to pull the game, saying that it had become far too addictive to people.

At the time, he said the game was “gone forever” but a few weeks later he had a change of heart and told fans that the game would return “but not soon”.
