Infinity Ward and Neversoft are to merge together to form a single “super studio”, according to a report by Giant Bomb.

The website is reporting that they have obtained an internal memo penned by Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg that reveals the two studios would be merging together after working together for Call of Duty: Ghosts.

Whilst the two studios will merge, the single “super studio” will still remain known as Infinity Ward whilst the Neversoft name will be retired.

Current Executive Vice President of Worldwide Studios for Activision, Dave Stohl, has apparently been assigned to lead the studio whilst current Infinity Ward head, Steve Ackrich, will still remain with the company.

The head of Neversoft, Joel Jewett, as well as its Studio Director, Scott Pease, have decided to retire but will remain with the company until the end of the year, according to the memo.

We’ve reached out to Activision for comment – so far, no word back.
