Watch Dogs on Wii U still available in GameStop stores

Despite earlier reports it was cancelled, the Wii U version of Watch Dogs is still available for pre-order from stores in Italy and the US.

Despite earlier reports that the Wii U version of Watch Dogs have been cancelled, copies are still available for pre-order.

According to GameSpot, GameStop stores in the US say they still have Wii U versions of Watch Dogs available for pre-order and that previous reports that copies were pulled were due to a computer error.

The game is also available for pre-order on an Italian GameStop website.

According to an original report by Wiitalia, Wii U versions of Watch Dogs were rumoured to have been cancelled after one of their readers were told by GameStop that his copy on Wii U was no longer available. Asked why, he was told Ubisoft had decided to pull the version from stores.

Trying to pre-order the game with other GameStop stores, he was also told that the game was not in any store’s database. Wiitalia reached out to multiple GameStop stores and were told that the Wii U version was indeed cancelled.

We reached out to Ubisoft Montreal for clarification yesterday but they refused to comment.

Originally intended for release in November 2013, Watch Dogs, available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PS4 & PS3, was delayed until spring 2014.
