Almost four years since Grand Theft Auto V set the gaming world ablaze, breaking world records and making history, the title has once again topped the UK sales chart.
As its 4th anniversary approaches, the sprawling open-world action-adventure title took the number one spot for the 13th time since launching on September 17th, 2013.
Along with Zumba Fitness, GTA V is now ranks third in most weeks at No1 of any title.
It also beat the newly released Nintendo Switch title Arms, which placed 7th.
It’s number one spot on the sales chart comes just six months after the game was named as “the biggest contributor to British economy” in gaming history.
Upon its release in September 2013, GTA V quickly became the biggest entertainment launch in history, earning $800 million during its first 24 hours on sale.
2 days later it officially broke $1 billion in sales, beating major films such as The Avenger’s Assemble and Avatar.
Critically acclaimed worldwide, the BAFTA award winning title also out-sold GTA IV, beat The Last of Us as the biggest digital release on PlayStation, broke 7 Guinness World Records and won numerous Game of the Year awards.
The game would later go on to be re-released on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
As of November 2nd, 2016, Grand Theft Auto V has shipped over 70 million copies across all platforms.
