Uncharted 4 leads BAFTA Game Awards nominations

BAFTA reveal the nominations for this year's BAFTA Game Awards ceremony, set to take place in April.

Naughty Dog’s critically acclaimed Uncharted 4 has been nominated for eight awards at the upcoming BAFTA Game Awards.

The fourth instalment in the action-adventure series has been nominated for Artistic Achievement, Audio Achievement, Best Music, Best Narrative, Best Game and three Performer nominees in Troy Baker, Nolan North and Emily Rose.

Also nominated in the Performer category are Alex Hernandez in Mafia III, Cissy Jones in Firewatch, Navid Negahban in 1979 Revolution: Black Friday.

Following closely behind with seven nominations is Playdead title Inside, a puzzle-platformer adventure video game, up for Best Game, Music, Narrative, and others.

The first-person mystery adventure Firewatch is nominated for six awards including Best Game, whilst Overcooked, Overwatch, The Last Guardian, and The Witness have all recieved four nominations each.

Battlefield 1, Dishonored 2, Pokémon Go, Titanfall 2 and Virginia receive three nominations each, and ABZÛ, Batman: Arkham VR, Doom, Forza Horizon 3, Mafia III, OXENFREE, That Dragon, Cancer and Unravel received two nominations each.

Other nominated games include Banner Saga 2, Dawn of Titans, Destiny: Rise of Iron, Deus Ex Go, Elite Dangerous: Horizons, Eve Online, Final Fantasy XIV, HITMAN, LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens, No Man’s Sky, Planet Coaster, The Playroom VR, Pokémon Sun and Pokémon Moon, Ratchet & Clank, Rez Infinite, Reigns, Rocket League, Stardew Valley, Tom Clancy’s The Division, Toca Hair Salon 3 and Unseen Diplomacy.

Among the Stones, Pentagrab and Rebound, are all nominated for the BAFTA Ones To Watch Award, an award showcasing the best in young game development and design talent.

The public will also be able to vote for the winner in the AMD Esports Audience Award. Nominated are Clash Royale, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, Dota 2, League of Legends, Overwatch and Street Fighter V.

For the first time, the BAFTA Games Awards will be hosted by writer and presenter Danny Wallace.

“I’m delighted to have been asked to host BAFTA’s Games Awards, which are the very best and most prestigious awards,” said Wallace. “This year’s nominations show, as always, the talent and hard work this incredibly exciting industry displays in all fields. I’m looking forward to being part of such an important night for games.”

The awards take place on Thursday 6 April at Tobacco Dock, London, and will be streamed live via Twitch TV and BAFTA’s website.
