Watch Dogs goes gold

Ubisoft's upcoming hacker-thriller title has officially gone gold ahead of its release on May 27th.

Watch Dogs has officially gone gold, Ubisoft have announced.

The upcoming hacker-thriller has gone gold ahead of its May 27th release, meaning the title is now fully finished and ready for release.

“It’s exciting to be gold but it’ll be more exciting when people are playing,” said Creative Director Jonathan Morin.

“For the fans it means that it’s true. It means there will be no such thing as another delay. But for us, it’s not done until they actually have it in their hands.”

Set in Chicago, you player as Aiden Pearce, a hacker and former thug, whose criminal past led to a violent family tragedy. Whilst seeking justice for those events, you’ll monitor and hack those around you by manipulating the CTOS from the palm of your hand.

“We tried to make a game that’s very scalable in the sense that it supports your play style,” says Lead Gameplay Designer Danny Belanger.

“It supports what you want to do most of the time. And it also supports your motivation. Do you want to play a story? Do you want to drive? Do you want to shoot? Do you want to hack? Do you want to play with others? Do you want to play on a tablet? It allows players to do what they feel like, which I find really cool.”

He continued: “There’s lots of things to explore, there’s lots of things to try. I think the greatest thing about Watch Dogs is doing what you think is fun.”

The title will be available for PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4 whilst the Wii U version has been delayed.
