Wii U sells 6.17 million consoles since launch

The Wii U has sold over 6 million copies since launching in 2012 but reported an operating loss for the third year in a row.

Wii U has sold 6.17 million consoles since launch, Nintendo have revealed.

The company announced (via IGN) lifetime sales have now reached 6.17 million copies after selling 2.7 million consoles last year since launching in November 2012.

In other news, the company also reported an operating loss of $457 million whilst the net loss came in at $22.2 billion.

The loss make it the third year the company reported an operating loss.

Nintendo 3DS also sold 590,000 copies bringing its total up to 43.3 million, including 2.2 million of the 2DS.
