Destiny “will be the best selling video game in history”, Activision has boldly claimed.
During their fourth quarter and 2013 calendar year earnings report yesterday (via IGN), Activison Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick said that the upcoming first person action shooter title will also be “Activision Publishing’s next billion-dollar franchise”.
Releasing in September this year, Destiny, set in a mysterious future, allows players to create a unique and powerful character, customise the way you’re characters looks and fights and explore what remains of the solar system.
The game also features a compelling storyline, competitive multiplayer, cooperative gameplay choices, wide open public combat destinations, and third-person community spaces where you can repair and rearm before going out on your next adventure.
In the past, Activision has made other bold claims.
In October, Activision said that they would regain all the records that they originally broke before the release of Grand Theft Auto V with Call of Duty: Ghosts, which launched in November.
GTA V broke $1 billion in sales in three days, outsold its predecessor GTA IV, beat The Last of Us as the biggest digital release on the PlayStation and won seven Guinness World Records. It was critically acclaimed worldwide and received numerous Game of the Year nominations and wins.
Call of Duty: Ghosts failed to regained the records it once held and Activision ended up blaming “console transition” for low sales of the game.
Destiny will be available for the Xbox One, 360, PS3 & 4.
