Marvel alumni Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has been cast as Killer Croc.
Killer Croc, also known as Waylon Jones, is a long term member of Batman’s rogues gallery, having first appeared in Batman #357 in March 1983. Up until now, however, Croc has never been adapted to the big screen. Gamers will no doubt remember Killer Croc as a boss in the recent Batman: Arkham Saga, where he was voiced by Steven Blum and Khary Payton.
Akinnuoye-Agbaje, famous for his role of Mr. Ecko in JJ Abrams‘ Lost, recently played the role of Kurse in Thor: The Dark World. As well as these, his career has spanned roles as diverse as Joseph Cinqué in Night in the Museum: Secrets of the Tomb, Atticus in Pompeii and Simon Adebisi in Oz. Mr. Akinnuoye-Agbaje is also set to play Malko in the 5th Season of Game of Thrones.
David Ayer, known as the writer of Training Day and SWAT, as well as the director of End of Watch and Fury, is currently attached to direct the project.
In the comics, the Suicide Squad (also known as Task Force X) is a black ops organization created by the United States government made up of incarcerated supervillains who undertake high-risk operations in return for truncated prison sentences.
