The 2nd teaser trailer and poster for the sequel to 2012’s The Woman in Black – lovingly titled The Woman in Black: Angel of Death – have arrived online. Take a gander at the creepy poster below.
The whole ‘shadow isn’t actually the shadow of the person we’re looking at’ idea has been a bit overused as far as film posters go (remember that cool Phantom Menace poster where the shadow of little Anakin Skywalker looked just a tad familiar?), but we’re liking this one even so. The artfully peeling haunted house wallpaper, the carefully coiffed unsuspecting woman, and then woops – that shadow ain’t really a shadow at all, is it?
And as for this new teaser trailer? Never has Vera Lynn’s ‘We’ll Meet Again’ – already quite a creepy sounding song in its own right – been used to such bone-rattling effect. It’s enough to give you the screaming heebie-jeebies.
Here’s the official synopsis for Angel of Death:
England, 1941. With London in the midst of the blitz, two teachers evacuate a group of schoolchildren to the abandoned Eel Marsh House. Seeking safety from the bombs in the remote coastal location, the group instead find themselves facing an evil far more frightening when their arrival awakens the Woman in Black.
So, a bunch of children are evacuated to a mysterious country house during WW2, only this time they’ll be finding a little bit more than a magic lion hiding in the wardrobe. The Woman in Black: Angel of Death is directed by Tom Harper, stars Phoebe Fox, Helen McCrory and Jeremy Irvine, and will be released in the UK on January 1st 2015.
