Film News

The 3rd and final Hobbit movie has been given a new title. The Hobbit: There and Back Again will now be known as The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies.

Last week a rumour emerged that the final Hobbit film could possibly be in for a title change, but we didn’t really expect it to happen; mostly because the possible new title was reported as being Into the Fire, which didn’t make a whole lot of sense when the probable content of the film was taken into account.

The Battle of the Five Armies, however, makes perfect sense, as we know that the main event of the final film is to be a huge battle between practically every race in Middle Earth, including Dwarves, Elves, Men, Orcs, Goblins, and the odd Wizard or Hobbit thrown in for good measure.

Director Peter Jackson revealed the news on Facebook.

“When we did the premiere trip late last year, I had a quiet conversation with the studio about the idea of revisiting the title. We decided to keep an open mind until a cut of the film was ready to look at. We reached that point last week, and after viewing the movie, we all agreed there is now one title that feels completely appropriate.”

The Hobbit: The Battle of the Five Armies will hit UK cinemas on December 12th this year.
