[dropcap]B[/dropcap]ryan Singer has announced that another X-Men movie is in the pipeline. The film is called X-Men: Apocalypse and it will be a sequel to X-Men: Days of Future Past. It’s scheduled to be released in 2016.

The sequel will feature the super villain Apocalypse, who is well known to fans of the X-Men. He is a centuries old super villain who took over the world in an alternate reality, in a story called Age of Apocalypse. He has numerous powers including the ability to shape-shift, and he is usually capable of taking on the X-Men single-handed. The Age of Apocalypse saga was both dark and dramatic, but it’s not known if the film will be an adaptation of those events.

Apocalypse is one of the strongest characters in the X-Men comic books, and one of their biggest adversaries. He was a firm believer in the concept of survival of the fittest, and felt only the strongest deserved to live. This is interesting as it echoes fears the humans have of mutants in the X-Men world, as they see them as the next stage in evolution. The mutants are strong while the humans are weak, and some fear for the survival of their species.

X-Men: Apocalypse has the potential to be epic, and it will be interesting to see which characters will appear in the movie.
