[dropcap]G[/dropcap]oogle have gone beyond the real world to create Google Middle Earth; a cross promotion between Warner Bros. and Google that allows fans to explore the world of The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings.

If you are fan of J.R.R Tolkien, you may already be well familiar with the eagle eye perspective of Middle Earth’s map. However, with “A Journey through Middle Earth”, fans can now delve into the 3D midst of Tolkien’s glorious fantasy land and click on specific locations, such as Rivendell, Dol Guldur and Erebor, to reveal more content and learn more about the characters and history of Tolkien’s mythology. Chrisos Apartoglou, Google’s product marketing manager, said “You don’t need to be besties with a Wizard to share an adventure in Middle-earth – just point your favourite browser to on your laptop, phone or tablet to check out “Journey through Middle-earth”.

Apartoglou continues, “Journey through Middle-earth is the first Chrome Experiment designed to bring a beautiful, 3D experience to mobile, thanks to support for WebGL in Chrome for Android on devices with high-end graphics cards”

This fun new Chrome experiment has been created as a celebration for the upcoming  release of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug on December 13.
