[dropcap]J[/dropcap]ane got more issues! Yet another big name has left the troubled Western. This time it is Bradley Cooper who is jumping ship having boarded just less than a month ago.
Yes, Cooper, the man who had replaced Jude Law as the main antagonist has left indie western Jane Got a Gun. Scheduling conflicts have been stated as the reason for his departure with the actor saying, “Regretfully, due to date conflicts between the film I am currently shooting for David O Russell and Jane Got a Gun, I am unable to join Natalie, Joel, Noah and Gavin on this truly exciting project. I was really looking forward to being a part of it and hope to work with each and every one in the future.”
Filming was delayed on O Russell’s latest, now called American Hustle, due to the Boston Marathon Bombings that took place last month. Production was halted during the manhunt for the two suspects linked to the massacre.
To recap the story so far we have had the likes of Michael Fassbender and director Lynne Ramsay leave the project. They were then replaced by Law and director Gavin Hood only for Law to drop out and be replaced by the now departing Cooper. Producers Scott Steindorff, Aleen Keshishian and actress Natalie Portman will now be searching for their new villain, and have reportedly put Jake Gyllenhaal, Joseph Gordon Levitt, Toby Maguire and Blighty’s own Tom Hiddleston on their wish list.
Jane Got a Gun follows Portman’s Jane as she defends her wounded husband (Noah Emmerich) from his former gang, who are out for his head. Desperate, Jane enlists the help of a former lover (Joel Edgerton) to fend off the outlaws. The producers now have until June to secure a villain having already delayed shooting to accommodate for Cooper’s schedule.
