[dropcap]B[/dropcap]ritish acting legend Gary Oldman has joined Child 44, which already has stars Tom Hardy and Noomi Rapace on board.
The film will be produced by Ridley Scott’s Scott Free production company and will be directed by Daniel Espinosa, the man behind 2012’s Safe house.
Child 44, set in 1950, concerns the story of a member of the Soviet Military Police (Hardy) as he investigates a series of child murders. As the investigation goes on he discovers he himself has become a prime suspect.
Oldman will play the Chief of Police who is tasked with investigating Hardy’s officer. The idea of Tom Hardy and Gary Oldman chewing up the scenery together is a tantalizing one, especially with the juicy concept of a double-layered investigation.
The film also stars Noomi Rapace and The Killing’s Joel Kinnaman, as Hardy’s wife and co-worker respectively. Penned by Richard Price, the film is an adaption of Tom Rob Smith’s 2008 novel of the same name.
Oldman has been hot topic of late; he has recently jumped aboard Dawn of the Planet of the Apes, as well as having just finished shooting the Robocop remake, also starring Kinnaman. Production for Child 44 will start on June 10th of this year.
