With the Mid-Season Invitational 2017 finals coming this weekend from Brazil, the start date for the EU LCS Summer split has been announced.
Thursday 1st June will see the beginning of the second half of the season in which teams will battle it out to qualify for the World Championships later this year. Teams have to lock in their rosters for the coming split by May 23rd in order to ensure their teams and players are able to compete.
Interestingly due to Fnatic Academy and Misfits Academy qualifying, both of these teams will have to be under new ownership for the coming split. After this the drafts for groups A and B will be performed on 26th May which will then allow games to be scheduled.
G2 will be looking to carry forward their Spring split form into the Summer and competing competitively against the world’s best in the MSI will have certainly have kept them sharp. Having finished third in the group stage G2 now face Team WE (LPL) in order to attempt to seal a spot in the final against either The Flash Wolves (LMS) or MSI title holders SKT (LCK).
Based on the games so far in the MSI, this weekend’s best of five matches certainly shouldn’t be missed.
