Nintendo Switch Battery Lifespan Issue May Be Solved

When Nintendo Switch was announced, Nintendo said that The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (2017) would take approximately three hours to deplete a full charge. Unsurprisingly, keener players did not feel that was enough bang for their buck.

This may be no longer be an issue, with a UK design company, InDemand Design, having designed an attachable battery pack and plans to ship the device to Indiegogo backers in August 2017.

The battery pack, aptly named the ‘SwitchCharge’, will pack a 12,000mAh battery, which according to the SwitchCharge Indiegogo page, will last around twelve hours. Additionally, the device has its own kickstand and two cartridge slots. It also fixes a design flaw of Nintendo Switch, whereby you cannot charge the console whilst propped up on its kickstand, as its USB C port is at the bottom of the Nintendo Switch tablet. As the SwitchCharge will have a USB C port at the side of the device, users will be able to avoid this problem.

The SwitchCharge would be beneficial for gamers wanting longer play sessions with Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, and the upcoming Mario Kart 8: Deluxe (2017), which will be released on 28th April 2017, for Nintendo Switch. According to GameRant, Mario Kart 8: Deluxe on the Nintendo Switch will last, “exactly 3 hours, 9 minutes, and 20 seconds,” whilst in portable mode, providing the screen display brightness is at 30%

SwitchCharge is currently priced at 85$ (£66) on Indiegogo, with various bundles available.
