Split across three different venues over the course of three days, Slam Dunk Festival has been a celebration of pop-punk, rock, metal and even drum and bass over recent years. Nominated for UK Festival Awards in previous years, Slam Dunk has always prided itself on its accessibility and openness to its audiences.
This year Slam Dunk will be taking place from May 27-May 29 in Leeds, Birmingham and Hatfield accordingly, and so far the line-up is a mixed bag of awesomeness.
Not only is it welcoming headliners Enter Shikari to the main stage, but it will also be giving them the chance to play their debut album Take To The Skies (2007) for its tenth anniversary.
But it doesn’t stop there.
Other names such as Reel Big Fish, Less Than Jake, Neck Deep, We Are The Ocean, Bowling for Soup, Don Broco and Deaf Havana will be hitting the stages to entertain the huge crowds.
With a number of different stages, playing a variety of different takes on the rock genre, Slam Dunk has a diverse and interesting line up which will surely cater to every taste.
Whilst I may be excited over the headline slot (very excited) there are other bands playing who I haven’t heard for years, making me certain my first year is going to be a good one.
The likes of Cute is What We Aim For, Against Me, The Bronx, Zebrahead, I Prevail and Memphis May Fire are great slots, and if they don’t all clash, I will aim to see all of them.
Another fantastic feature of this year’s festival is the new stage which is celebrating the unsigned and smaller bands from across the globe. The Rocksound Breakout Stage play host to bands like Area 11, Homebound, The Gospel Youth and many more.
If all of that isn’t enough to interest you, there is also a very special surprise guest band which, I assume, will not be announced until the days of the festival..Who could it be? You Me At Six? Atreyu? Who knows? But whoever it is, it will be a cracking surprise on the day.
See you soon Slam Dunk! See you soon.
