With the much-anticipated release of Spectre looming large, there’s bound to be more than a few snippets of Bond news doing the rounds. This one concerns the ‘will he stay or will he go?’ situation surrounding Daniel Craig, which some might say is getting a little tiresome, but here goes.
Many think that Spectre will be the Layer Cake actor’s final outing as the suave spy, and he has now given the strongest indication yet that this suspicion will be confirmed.
In a recent interview with Time Out London, the 47-year-old said that he would rather “slash [my] wrists” than play Bond again. We would say don’t pull any punches, but to be quite frank there are some of us out there who just wish he’d make his bloody mind up. At least then one of Idris Elba, Damian Lewis and Tom Hardy can take over the role and the other two can start looking for alternative employment.
But even with that damning verdict, Craig hasn’t ruled out a return completely: “At the moment, we’ve done it. I’m not in discussion with anyone about anything. If I did another Bond movie it would only be for the money.” Amongst all this though, he did also take time to give some advice to his successor: “Don’t be s***. You’ve got to step up. People do not make movies like this anymore. This is really rare now. So don’t be s***.”
Let’s not forget, all that travelling to exotic places such as Rome, the Austrian Alps, Mexico City and Morocco (all four were used as locations fort Spectre) must be a horrible bind – or has the Sam Smith theme left him a little dazed and confused?
As you’re probably aware, Spectre opens on October 26.
