Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst was officially given a release date today.
DICE revealed that the next instalment in the series will be available on February 23rd, 2016 in North America, February 26th, 2016 in the UK, and February 25th in Europe.
As previously stated, Catalyst won’t serve as a sequel but rather honour the original as it delves into the origin story of Faith, the game’s protagonist, and her rise from a careless young woman to a heroine who opens the eyes of an entire city.
Players will be able to explore the game’s entire city, discovering a host of side activities, such as mini-races, environmental puzzles, and story missions to complete at their own pace.
“When we set out to bring Mirror’s Edge to a new generation of gamers, we knew we wanted to deliver on the potential of the first game – building an iconic heroine in Faith, bringing a beautiful, stylised world to life, and delivering fluid first person action,” says Sara Jansson, Senior Producer at DICE.
“In Mirror’s Edge Catalyst, you will get to feel what it’s like to glide across the skyline of the city. You will get to know what it feels like to be a projectile who plows through your opponents. And you will get to experience Faith’s story.”
Those who pre-order the title will receive the Combat Runner Kit or the Speed Runner Kit which includes in-game items including a Project Shadar, changing their appearance to friends, a Runner Tag to stand out in leaderboards, unique backgrounds and much more.
Previously, the writer for Mirror’s Edge, Rhianna Pratchett, revealed that she would not be returning, citing a number of problems during development of the game.
Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst will be available at retail and for digital download on Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and PC.
