Chris Hemsworth has been wielding that legendary Hammer since 2011 as Thor, and with Avengers: Age of Ultron coming to our screens in just three short days, everybody is dying to know how much more of this beautiful God of Thunder we will be seeing in the future of Marvel’s cinematic universe.
Marvel began their ridiculously long contracts with Samuel L. Jackson when he signed a nine-picture contract. It may have seemed unfathomable and pretty damn strange at the time, who signs on for nine movies? But it worked. Now, it’s not unusual for Marvel to break out the three-film contracts and if anything, it is rarer to get a one film deal. But, now Marvel has 11 films under its belt and a lot of the contracts are coming to an end. We all want to know how much more of the original cast we are getting, it’s been on the tip of every tongue.
Robert Downey Jr. signed up for Avengers 2 and 3 after his contract ran out, to our relief. But what about the Chris’s, Thor and Captain America? Luckily for us, Collider sat down with Hemsworth and Chris Evans during the junket for Avengers: Age of Ultron and broached the subject. Evans will be standing proud with his shield and Hemsworth is going to be picking up Mjolnir and donning his cape for a few more films it seems. Hemsworth revealed that he has some time before the end of his contract, three films; Thor: Ragnorok and Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 and Part 2.
However, I hear your concerns. Just because Hemsworth is contracted for all three films it does not necessarily mean he will appear in all three, just that he could. Hemsworth reassuringly seems confident that he will be appearing in at least Avengers: Infinity War – Part 1. The more important question is this; will they be signing a new contract or will they simply give up their Hero statuses? Keep your fingers crossed!
Infinity War reportedly will focus on introducing the new Avengers line-up, including Black Panther and Doctor Strange. The plot for the film revolves around Thanos who is in possession of the infinity gauntlet, the avengers must again assemble to fight against the formidable enemy. The initial speculation was that Part 1 would focus on the new line up, bringing the old favourites back in for Part 2. We will just have to wait and see.
The next instalment of the Marvel series, Avengers: Age of Ultron, comes to cinemas on April 23, 2015.
