Ladies and gentlemen of the hard-rock world, I ask that you pace yourselves. Use headphones sparingly and keep the volume low because there is something looming in the near future that needs a healthy eardrum to shatter.
A new heavy-metal supergroup has made itself known to the media and they have charged in with full force, boasting recordings and appearances from rock veterans such as Dave Grohl (Foo Fighters), Corey Taylor (Slipknot), and Randy Blythe (Lamb of God). The new band, known formally as Teenage Time Killer, is lead by Corrosion of Conformity’s drummer Reed Mullin and bassist Mike Dean and their deservedly expected success has landed them a record deal with Rise Records, the label behind bands such as The Acacia Strain, Memphis May Fire, and Of Mice and Men. The supergroup has been in Grohl’s personal 606 Studio recording about 98 percent of their tracks and are due to release an LP in 2015.
Not sure where Dave finds time to devote to such collaborations considering his upcoming world tour for the Foo Fighters’ critically acclaimed new album Sonic Highways, but the news is very real and uncontrollably mouth watering, but in the ear… ear watering…? Regardless, many hard-rock acts have voiced their interest in the supergroup and have been welcomed aboard lending to a roster of talent and artistic amalgamation that we will not likely hear or see for a long time after Teenage Time Killer is done. So until then, let us hark back to previous albums from the rockers we should expect to be hearing and wait impatiently for the album to be released.
If you are aching for a very small taste of what’s to come, check out the video posted to C.O.C’s Facebook page back in October. The video features lead singer Jonny Webber of Ghost of Saturday Nite laying down some heavy vocals to a song raging with the punk rock guitars of Brian Backer of Bad Religion.
