Here’s this week’s top five news stories in movie land…
- Elizabeth Taylor died at the age of 79. After battling congestive heart failure for years Taylor lost her battle this week. Perhaps best known for her role in 1963’s Cleopatra she was an icon of the age.
- The Magician’s Nephew could be the fourth Narnia adaptation. Althought a prequel to The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe in the literary series it seems to be favourite for the next Narnia cinema outing.
- The rumours surrounding the ongoing enigma that is the 24 movie was further fuelled this week with Kiefer suggesting it could hit cinemas in 2012 despite shooting being scheduled for September 2011.
- Although The Amazing Spiderman hasn’t yet met cinema audiences, a script for The Amazing Spiderman 2 has already been greenlit. Screenwriter James Vanderbilt heads the task, having recently written The Losers as well as working on the Total Recall remake.
- Twilight fans will be pleased to hear that Breaking Dawn is nearing completion with actor Robert Pattinson confirming he has filmed one of the book’s gorier scenes… meaning the bitey bitey caesarean scene has wrapped.
