The trailer for Christopher Nolan’s eagerly anticipated new science fiction film, Interstellar is finally online. It’s only a teaser trailer though so no plot details are revealed. It mainly features archive footage of mankind’s achievements in spaceflight such as landing on the moon for example.
Interstellar is about a team of explorers and scientists who discover a wormhole in space. They dare to travel through the wormhole and this journey represents the next big leap in mankind’s exploration of our solar system. It is rumoured that the plot will also involve time travel and alternate realities which sounds exciting. By venturing through the wormhole, the astronauts could travel backwards or forwards in time, or they could possibly end up in an alternate reality. This is all obviously pure speculation right now but Nolan’s films often deal with big ideas and interesting plots. It is safe to assume that the film will have a high concept plot which provides food for thought.
Matthew McConaughey stars in the film and also narrates the trailer, his character celebrates the achievements mankind has made through space exploration. He is also seen driving through a cornfield towards the end of the trailer before he and another mystery cast member watch a space rocket take flight. It’s an inspiring ending to the teaser and Hans Zimmer’s score helps to give it some class.
The film also stars Jessica Chastain, Anne Hathaway, Casey Affleck, Michael Caine, David Oyelowo, Topher Grace, John Lithgow and Ellen Burstyn. It’s another solid cast for a Nolan film and eager fans can catch the movie when it is released on November 7th, 2014.
