[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he next installment in the iconic Australian Mad Max franchise finally has a release date! Warner Bros. confirm that the apocalyptic adventure, Mad Max: Fury Road, will smash onto our screens May 15, 2015.
The much anticipated follow up to the Mad Max trilogy, which brought original star Mel Gibson to international fame, will arrive 30 years after the last film in the franchise – Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome. Set between the events of the original Mad Max and Mad Max 2: Road Warrior, George Miller returns to direct the action having worked on all previous installments in the franchise.
Adding another film to the never ending list of blockbusters to be released in 2015, Fury Road has some tough competition that year from the likes of Star Wars: Episode VII, Batman vs. Superman and Avengers: Age of Ultron (which is released only a couple of weeks before), just to name a few.
The film, which was in “development hell” for over 25 years and has had a turbulent production spanning 4 years, stars Tom Hardy as Max Rockatansky, taking over the role from Gibson, who reportedly has a cameo in the film. Charlize Theron and Nicholas Hoult co star.
