[dropcap]T[/dropcap]he upcoming Beyond: Two Souls video game has held its world premiere in Paris.
The PS3 exclusive, which features film actors Willem Dafoe and Ellen Page, hit the Grand Rex Theatre in Paris last week for a screening of the first 40 minutes of the game, followed by a panel discussion.
Around 2,000 guests attended along with Quantic Dream’s founder and the game’s writer and director, David Cage. Willem Dafoe, who portrays Nathan Dawkins, Kadeem Hardison, who portrays Cole Freeman and lead actress Ellen Page were also in attendance.
Beyond: Two Souls follows Jodie Holmes (Page), a young woman who possesses supernatural powers through her psychic link to an invisible entity. Over a span of 15 years of Jodie’s life, she grows from a confused child into a crack CIA agent and discovers who she really is.
As you progress through the journey, your decisions and actions will shape the course of the story, according to the site’s official website. Beyond is the follow up to Quantic Dream’s 2010 smash hit PS3 exclusive Heavy Rain.
In a video released on Playstation’s Blog and official YouTube page, Page spoke about her excitement that the game is already generating.
She said: “One of the things that I did feel was what the response was going to be. And everybody’s so intrigued, especially young filmmaker friends of mine, just so intrigued by the idea of this medium being used for a narrative storytelling.”
Willem Dafoe also spoke about his own excitement for the game’s release, saying: “I’m very excited for this to come out because as involved as I am in it I’m just a little participant in this huge thing, this huge process. For example, tonight, I’m going to see it projected and I’m very excited.”
The Playstation Blog has said that a full broadcast of the event is to be released on YouTube soon. Beyond: Two Souls releases on October 11th.
