[dropcap]A[/dropcap] rumour has been circulating that Jack Nicholson is going to quit the acting game due to memory loss, but conflicting reports have appeared on the net saying that the rumour is just that – a rumour.
The actor has been out of the spotlight for a while, and some movie fans may have assumed he’d already quit years ago. It seems unlikely that such a high profile actor would leave the business completely though, especially an actor that has continued to be a successful performer for so many years.
Memory loss due to age is not uncommon, and if Nicholson is suffering from this problem it would make learning lines very difficult. However, NBC Reporter Maria Shriver has stated that the rumours are false, so it’s best to take this speculation with a pinch of salt right now.
Nicholson is 76 years old, and it is understandable that taking on major roles at such an age is not as easy as it would be for a younger person. The actor pulled out of his role in new film Nebraska which may have helped to fuel the rumours about his retirement. Other veteran actors like Sean Connery have also stepped away from the limelight, and even Michael Caine seems to have reduced his work schedule a fair bit.
If this rumour is untrue, then we may still see Nicholson appear on-screen again sometime in the future.
