With the release of The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey upon us, and the Lord of the Rings (LOTR) proving to be more than just a little bit successful, we thought we’d have a look and see how J.R.R. Tolkien’s stories have influenced popular culture since Peter Jackson got hold of them.
Of course there are toys, games, documentaries and a 40% surge in tourism to New Zealand. But what really gauges if something is that popular is how people talk about it on the internet and LOTR wasn’t short of a few of them with Hobbit related memes increasing by the second. So here are Roobla’s top ten Tolkien inspired memes (so far).

And finally, the whole world is sceptical about The Hobbit being stretched into three films, including Sceptical Third Wold Kid, but then if anyone can do it, Peter Jackson can… we hope.
