We’ve been promised that the legend ends with the release of The Dark Knight Rises. Ending a seven year journey, Christopher Nolan’s final Batman instalment promises to continue the dark theme shown in his two previous Batman films. Accompanied by some new faces, the entire cast and crew are back, including composer Hans Zimmer.
The musician has written the scores for previous Batman films Batman Begins and The Dark Knight as well as composing the well-received soundtrack for Nolan’s Inception. The composer has created countless memorable movie soundtracks and his score for The Dark Knight Rises promises to continue this trend.
30 second clips from each track on the film’s soundtrack have been made available via Soundcloud. As well as giving a feel for the film’s tone (if we had to describe it in one word we’d chose ominous), the track titles also give us a glimpse of what we can expect from the storyline. ‘A Storm is Coming’ echoes Anne Hathaway’s character Selina Kyle’s warning; ‘there’s a storm coming, Mr. Wayne’. Another memorable line from the trailer finds its way into the list with ‘Rise’ being the final track on the playlist.
Other titles all point toward the film’s destructive finality, including ‘Gotham’s Reckoning’ (an ode to Tom Hardy’s Bane?), ‘The Fire Rises’ (surely an explosive scene), ‘Despair’ and ‘Fear Will Find You’. Doesn’t sound like Christian Bale’s Batman is going to be having a very enjoyable time in his final outing as the caped crusader.
The penultimate track, entitled ‘Why Do We Fall’ harks back to Wayne’s father’s presence in Batman Begins, promising the film will be a conclusive instalment in the huge trilogy.
