American Horror Story is finally back.

With its premiere on FX in 2011, American Horror Story proved to be a show that is in its own lane. With this new season, creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk are giving us yet again a chilling new storyline. If you aren’t familiar with American Horror Story, then it’s easy to follow. Every season there’s a different location, different characters, and a different plot. This anthology series has previously centered on a haunted house, an asylum, a witch coven, a freak show, a hotel, the lost colony of Roanoke, and the seventh season will center around a cult.

When I first watched American Horror Story, I didn’t know what to expect. But after watching the first episode of season one, I was hooked. American Horror Story excels on creating memorable characters. Not only does the show manage to scare the hell out of me, every season after that is as frightening and freaky as the last. Along with the creepy seasons are the equally as creepy trailers. I believe that the trailers are a very important part of the show because they introduce the themes of each season. In the past American Horror Story has even kept its themes a secret, presenting the trailers to be used as clues for fans to speculate on.

The seventh season, American Horror Story: Cult, will focus on the 2016 United States presidential election, playing on the emotions that surrounded this event: fear and anger. The seventh season will tackle these issues in the concept of a cult. The twist is that the cult seems to centre around killer clowns. Familiar faces such as Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Emma Roberts will be back as series regulars as well as new faces that will join the AHS family (Girls’ Lena Dunham and Scream QueensBillie Lourd).

Fans of the show and fans of horror will enjoy this season because it features clowns, elections, and cults. If you haven’t seen this show yet, give it a chance. It won’t disappoint you. American Horror Story is perhaps one of the best horror shows out there because of its originality. So enjoy the new season and don’t get freaked out too much when killer clowns start showing up in your dreams.
