The regular Super League season has come to an end. We now move onto the Super 8s, where the top eight teams in the Super League season will compete for the right to play in the grand final, and be crowned the champions of Super League for 2015.

The top eight teams in the Super League table will now play each other once more. After those seven games, the top four teams will play in the semi-finals (1st vs 4th and 2nd vs 3rd). The winners will then compete in the grand final, which will take place at Old Trafford on the 10th of October.

It has been one of the most exciting Super League seasons in recent years. It is still all to play for for all eight teams involved in the Super 8s. Each will be battling to try and book their place at Old Trafford, for the grand final. All the favourites are still in with a chance of lifting the trophy. Including The Leeds Rhinos, St Helens, Wigan Warriors and Warrington Wolves.

The Leeds Rhinos currently top the table. With an attack which has seen them score over 150 points more than their closest rivals. They will be highly fancied to lift this season’s trophy. They sit seven points clear of fifth-placed Castleford Tigers. So they are almost certain to be in the top four after the Super 8s. Club legends Kevin Sinfield and Jamie Peacock will be looking to go out on a high in their final season at the club.

Reigning Super League champions St Helens will be looking to regain their crown. They currently sit second in the table, just one point off the leaders. Two more wins should see them safely through to the semi-finals. They proved their class last season when they were crowned champions- can they do it again?

Wigan Warriors are hot on the heels of the top two. They are placed in third position, with a gap of five points separating them from fifth place. They are big favourites to secure their place in the last four, once the Super 8s have finished. They have a lot of big game players, so come the end of the season they should have a big part to play.

The battle for fourth place will be closely fought. Huddersfield Giants currently occupy that position. They have the best defence in the competition up to this point. That should stand them in good stead for the remaining games. They are favourites to secure the final place in the semi-finals.

Castleford Tigers are having another great season, sitting just two points behind Huddersfield in fifth place. On their day, they can beat anyone. They have a good chance of finishing in the top four.

Warrington Wolves will also fancy their chances of breaking into the top four. The Wolves have underperformed in most parts this season, sitting in sixth position. But they have the ability to go all the way. By beating table toppers Leeds twice already this season, they have proved how good they can be on their day.

Hull FC and Catalans Dragons are the final two teams who make up the Super 8s. Both of these teams are a long way behind fourth position – it would take something special for either of them to make the semi-finals. Both teams will be looking to finish their seasons on a high, which will make them dangerous opponents.

For me, this season’s Super League has been the greatest ever. The competition has been closely fought all the way through. Super League is continuing to improve with each year. We have witnessed some incredible games so far, and the best is yet to come!
