[dropcap]S[/dropcap]he’s got more than enough silverware to fill Buckingham Palace, but that didn’t stop Adele taking a trip there to pick up an MBE for services to music.
Yes, Christmas came a few days early for the singing sensation, who met up with the Prince of Wales to receive the prestigious gong. This latest addition to her ever-growing honours list will surely top the Oscar, Grammy and maybe even the Brit Awards (OK, let’s not get carried away) that she has already bagged.
Everyone loves to speculate over how the conversations at these events might have played out, but we’re pretty sure the question ‘and what do you do?’ wouldn’t have reared its head on this particular occasion. Charlie may not be everyone’s idea of ‘down with it’, but come on! Besides, can you imagine the embarrassment it would cause William and Harry for starters?
To say life’s been eventful for Adele, who is still only at the ripe old age of 25, would be an understatement. With the hit singles, albums and countless awards has also come the birth of her son, Angelo, as well as a ghost from the past concerning her estranged father. Surely there’s at least one director out there who already has their sights set on Adele: The Movie.
If and when that happens, there’s bound to be a long queue of actresses up for the role, such is the Chasing Pavements singer’s global appeal, both musically and as a role model. This latest honour, on which she refused to comment to the press, has added to that and, if things carry on at the rate they are, who’d be brave enough to bet against ‘Dame Adele’?
So 2013 has ended exactly as it began – on a massive high. Who knows what 2014 will bring, but the big question now must surely be over whether or not the Adele household will be tuning in for the Queen’s speech!
