EA Sports yesterday revealed UFC Lightweight Champion “The Notorious” Conor McGregor will be the global cover athlete for the new UFC video game.
The Irish mixed martial artist, who last year became the first ever two-weight UFC champion by capturing both the Featherweight title and and the Lightweight title, will be on the cover of UFC 3, scheduled for release on February 2, 2018.
It is the second time McGregor has been on the cover of the UFC video game, having previously shared the UFC 2 cover with female UFC star Ronda Rousey.
“Two belts, two covers – EA Sports got it right again,” UFC Lightweight Champion Conor McGregor said. “It’s an honor to be on the cover and I can’t wait to play the game.”
The new UFC 3 game will be powered by a new gameplay animation technology, Real Player Motion Tech, which features over 5,000 new animations enabling players to move, strike and create seamless combinations in-game.
A new G.O.A.T. Career Mode will also allow players’ choices outside of the Octagon to strategically promote fights, create rivalries, gain fans, earn big contracts, and much more.
“UFC 3 and RPM Tech mark a new generation of gameplay in EA Sports games,” said EA Sports UFC 3 Creative Director, Brian Hayes. “The new animation technology has allowed us to take a massive leap forward in motion and responsiveness.
“The result is a complete overhaul to gameplay where every move is more strategic and looks more authentic and beautiful.”
UFC 3 will be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
