Destiny 2 is set to be released for consoles in early September, with the PC launch coming the following month in October, Activision today announced.

Available for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, the sequel to the 2014 original is scheduled for release on September 6th, while PC gamers will have to wait until October 24th for the PC release.

The console beta for the online-only multiplayer first-person shooter will commence from July 18th for gamers who pre-order the title, with a public beta opening on July 21st.

A beta for the PC is yet to be announced.

“Everyone always says that they can’t wait for fans to get their hands on their game, but we really mean it,” said Eric Hirshberg, CEO of Activision. “Destiny 2 looks so awesome. I’m thrilled to announce that we are moving the release date up to September 6th.

“We are also hard at work with our friends at Bungie optimising Destiny 2 for the PC, which we will be releasing in all its glory on October 24.”

A new trailer, shown above, for Destiny 2 was also unveiled during E3, which highlights the game’s ominous villain, Dominus Ghaul.

“For all of us at the studio, this is a humbling year to see the vision of the Destiny universe welcome its sequel, and for us, the most exciting part is to see what stories this amazing community will tell once it is in their hands,” added Bungie CEO, Pete Parsons.

“We had an industry-defining moment at our Destiny 2 gameplay reveal in May, and at E3, the team is expanding hands-on to showcase a new subclass and will continue to highlight the vast variety of hands-on experiences that appeal to both solo and multiplayer gamers.”

The sequel will see players embark on an epic journey to save humanity from annihilation at the hands of Dominus Ghaul and his elite army.
