505 Games and Keen Games have announced a trial version of their upcoming RPG Portal Knights on PS4 and Xbox One on April 20th. Players will have a chance to explore the first island in both single and multiplayer modes before the game releases May 19th.

The trial version will allow you to create your hero choosing your class between ranger, mage and warrior and customise your avatar appearance. You will then be able to level up your character and develop their skills as well as assign it a companion pet which will join you on your adventures.

Either in single player or multiplayer, via the co-op offline mode for 2 player split screen, you’ll have a chance to hone your tactical combat skills against the various enemies and learn the crafting system by mining resources to make new equipment and armour. What’s more you’ll be able to renovate your initial dilapidated farmhouse and grow crops in the hope that one day you’ll upgrade to a castle.

With so much to do such as building structures, exploring dungeons, defeating monsters, trading items and completing quests, the first island should give players an opportunity to experience a lot of what this game has to offer. Plus all your progress in the trial can be transferred over to the full game allowing you to continue where you left off.

Portal Knights is released May 19th on PS4 and Xbox One and Roobla will have a review up as soon as we can nab a copy. Check out some screenshots of the game below.
