The development of The Last of Us sequel will be pushed back whilst Naughty Dog focus on the development of Uncharted 4.

Bruce Straley and Neil Druckmann, director and writer of The Last of Us who took over development of Uncharted 4 following several big departures from the studio, say that they are 110% focused on the development of the fourth instalment in the action-adventure series.

“That’s all a big if,” Straley told GameInformer, shooting down rumours that The Last of Us 2 was currently in development. “We’re 110% in Uncharted 4 territory now. Blinders on, make this awesome.”

“We totally get it,” said Druckmann, referring fans anticipation for a sequel to the critically acclaimed thriller title. “Because we have those same feeling as well.

“We have brainstormed sequel ideas for The Last of Us, and we’ve brainstormed ideas for new games, but all of that is put on ice right now whilst we work on Uncharted 4.”

Naughty Dog recently revealed the story details in Game Informer’s February issue and they also confirmed that the action-adventure title will feature a multiplayer mode.

Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End begins three years following the end of the events of Uncharted 3, which Drake has settled down with his new wife Elena. But his life is thrown into chaos his elder brother assumed dead, Sam, returns.

Sam tells Drake that they must find a legendary pirate artefact as his life hangs in the balance. The two then journey to Libertaria, a pirate colony in Madagascar, in search of the artefact but come across two other rivals, Rafe and Nadine, also trying to find the artefact.

First announced last year in November, the title was officially announced back in June during Sony’s E3 conference.

The Last of Us writer and director, Neil Druckmann and Bruce Straley, are currently leading the project following numerous staff changes at Naughty Dog.

A month ago, Naughty Dog also released a 15 minute gameplay video.

A PS4 exclusive, Uncharted 4 is expected to launch in 2015.
