An independent PlayStation Vita gaming website is aiming to raise at least £1,000 for GamesAid, a UK video games industry charity.

Vita Player will be running a sponsored 24-hour gaming marathon to raise the money for the charity next weekend and is currently looking for support from gamers.

The site’s editor, Simon Plumbe, decided to host the marathon after inspiration from his 13 year old daughter who completed a sponsored walk for Sports Relief.

Simon will be playing games on PlayStation Vita for 24 hours on Friday May 2nd, taking just two breaks, and he hopes to play in excess of 100 different titles.

Viewers will be able to track his progress via the Vita Player website, their Facebook and Twitter pages and are hoping to live stream the event via YouTube.

Sponsors can donate to the cause via the Just Giving fundraiser, where every penny goes directly to GamesAid, or they can text donations to 70070 with the message GXGA60 £1.
