Christopher Nolan’s new science fiction film, Interstellar gets a new full length trailer. Details about the film have been scarce until now and the project was shrouded in mystery.

Interstellar stars Matthew McConaughey as Cooper, a family man with two kids who is recruited by Michael Caine for a top secret project. Planet Earth is running out of food and in this world Cooper’s technical skills as a pilot and engineer have been neglected. This situation changes however when Caine’s character enlists Cooper to fly a space rocket into a wormhole. The theory is that wormholes connect widely separated regions of space. If astronauts can successfully navigate through a wormhole then the human race can transcend previous limitations on human space travel. The main goal is for Cooper and his fellow astronauts to explore space and find a new home for the human race. This is a difficult job for Cooper as he will have to abandon his children in order to take on this highly dangerous mission.

The film has a great cast including Anne Hathaway, Topher Grace, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow, David Oyelow and Casey Affleck. Chris Nolan co-wrote the script along with his brother Jonathan and Hans Zimmer is the composer which is good news. Viewers will expect Interstellar to be a top notch production and it is shaping up well so far.

This feature length trailer gives away a few small details about the plot. Cooper is introduced as a man struggling to get by and provide for his family. The weather is getting worse every day and is the cause of all the major food shortage problems. Cooper is a classic underdog, everyman character who is given a chance to attempt something groundbreaking. The trailer ends with footage of Copper and his crew preparing to enter the wormhole. This cliffhanger ending leaves the viewer wanting to see more. It’s a fairly restrained trailer which doesn’t try to wow the audience with lots of special effects scenes and action. Instead it focuses on the human drama concerning Cooper’s plight and his decision to join the epic space voyage.

Interstellar will be out on November 7th in the UK and US. Check out the trailer and share your thoughts.
