The final trailer for Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Days of Future Past is online and it is the best of the bunch.

It focuses on Wolverine and his efforts to recruit the X-Men of the past to help him prevent a war in the future. Logan knows that in the future an army of mutant killing robots called the Sentinels will eventually turn on humans and mutants alike. This will result in many casualties as the remaining mutants and humans try to fight back against this threat. The future X-Men are losing the war and they are on the verge of being wiped out completely. In a last ditch attempt to turn the tide they send Wolverine’s consciousness back in time into the mind of his younger self. The experiment works and the younger Logan is now fully aware of what will happen unless the X-Men can change the future.

Logan’s first challenge will be to convince the young Professor Xavier (James McAvoy), Magneto aka Erik Lehnsherr (Michael Fassbender) and Mystique (Jennifer Lawrence) to help him. There is bad blood between these characters due to the dramatic events in X-Men: First Class.
Hugh Jackman reprises his role as Wolverine and a large cast of other well known faces appear in the film too. The cast includes Patrick Stewart who returns as the older Xavier from the future, Ian McKellen as the older Magneto, Halle Berry as Storm, Daniel Cudmore, Shawn Ashmore, Omar Sy, Anna Paquin and Ellen Page.

The trailer does a good job of introducing both old and new X-Men from the movies who are recruited by Wolverine. Old favorites like Iceman and Colossus are shown but also new characters like Quicksilver (Evan Peters) who can move fast like The Flash and Bishop (Omar Sy.) There are also plenty of action scenes thrown into the mix which show what the Sentinels can do. They appear to be quite formidable as they receive upgrades to make them more effective at killing mutants. This makes them similar to the terminators from James Cameron’s films who were also rather adaptable. The idea of sending someone back in time to change the future was also a concept well used in the Terminator series. This trailer offers a nice introduction to both the plot and the characters which is great for newcomers. It also has plenty of humour which was largely absent from the previous clips of the movie.

X-Men: Days of Future Past will be out on May 22nd, check out the trailer and share your thoughts.
