Quentin Tarantino’s The Hateful Eight, which was on track to begin shooting in November this year, will now get underway a little later at the beginning of 2015, Kurt Russell has revealed.

Russell, who will have a lead role in the film alongside Tarantino fave Samuel L. Jackson, was being interviewed for US television when he mentioned in passing that one of his upcoming projects, The Hateful Eight, was due to begin shooting early next year.

His exact words were the following:

“I’ve got a Tarantino project called The Hateful Eight that looks like it may go somewhere around the beginning of next year.”

This is obviously a little later than planned, but certainly not a huge setback for the project, especially when the film’s already pretty chequered history is taken into account. The script was leaked earlier this year and Tarantino threatened to shelve the project entirely; later things seemed to be back on track as a new draft of the script was put together, followed by an all star read-through of said script (albeit with an ending that won’t actually make it to the screen).

The film will concentrate on a group of characters (including two bounty hunters and other shady types) who get stranded when their stage coach is forced to stop at a saloon in the middle of nowhere during a blizzard. As well as Russell and Jackson, the film will star Amber Tamblyn, Walton Goggins, Tim Roth and Michael Madsen.

Are you looking forward to Tarantino’s new Western?
