film News

In a Q&A session with Jeff Goldsmith, writer and producer Simon Kinberg has revealed that the next X-Men movie, X-Men: Apocalypse, will be set in 1983, ten years after X-Men: Days of Future Past.

This also means that X-Men: Apocalypse will be set about twenty years after X-Men: First Class (those mutants like to move quick, don’t they), suggesting that we might start to see some of the actors playing the older characters (like Michael Fassbender and James McAvoy) with some grey streaks and glued-on wrinkles.

The plot of the film is unknown, but presumably the action will revolve around main antagonist Apocalypse, the world’s oldest mutant.

Stars Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult and Evan Peters are all slated to return along with Fassbender and McAvoy, with Channing Tatum as Gambit. We can also expect appearances from younger versions of Storm, Cyclops and Jean Grey, and possibly also Nightcrawler.

X-Men: Apocalypse will hit UK theatres on May 19th 2016.
